THE EXPEDITION 44 CHURCH SERIES

The missional intent of the Department of Pastoral Ministries is to prepare biblically centered, Spirit-empowered servants equipped to shepherd people into the kingdom of God and their journey to be a disciple and bring others into the same journey of whole-heartedly following Jesus and establishing His Kingdom.

  • Teaching – communicate the Bible for the purpose of transformation, whether in a church service, at a Bible study, or within interpersonal conversation.
  • Pastoral – from inception (evangelism and church planting) to expression (worship, discipleship and administration).
  • Spiritual formation for the longevity of shepherding

Dr. Steve Cassell was born into a ministry home where his father was pastoring in rural Illinois. This naturally translated into an authentic heart conversion and “born again” moment when Steve was just five years old. At twenty-two years old, he relocated to Fort Worth, TX in order to attend bible college at a developing Word of Faith school. After graduating and an additional two years of being a full-time staff member of the school he transitioned into the secular corporate world for the next eleven years. His work ethics and Kingdom principles led to eventually managing a multi-million dollar division of a billion dollar company. During this time he was purposeful about participating in a diversity of lay-minister functions for local churches and ministries. In 2012 he finally succumbed to the divine calling that was shut-up in his bones like fire and returned to the cornfields of northwestern Illinois to plant Beloved Church. This church was intended to be built on the New Testament model of discipleship and raw Kingdom culture dynamics. During the first ten years of church growth and development Steve attended Charis Bible College through the Continuing Education for Minister’s program. He also successful obtained his Master’s of Executive Leadership through Destiny College International which then culminated into a Doctorate in Ministry through Covenant Theological Seminary where he humble serves as the professor of Biblical Studies and Pastoral Studies. The vast experience in hands-on ministry and current pastoral success gives him a unique asset to offer the students and faculty of CTS. To balance his value in the Kingdom, Dr. Steve has been covenantally committed in marriage since 1995 to his bride Kay and have parented two children in loving devotion.
